This one started with drainage. The existing surface fell back toward the house, so before any stone was laid we ground the substrate and re-levelled it to carry water out to the garden beds.
The coping is drop-face bluestone with a rounded edge, laid so the overhang sits consistent the whole way around the pool. Around it we ran 400x800 bluestone pavers on a full mortar bed, sealed once the joints had cured.
All stonework was sealed with a penetrating sealer suited to pool chemicals and Melbourne winters.
